Matthew 22:36-39

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

This is it. The tip of what’s being asked. First, that we would have the relationship with God that we were created for. That we would engage our loving, wonderful, forgiving, and just Heavenly Father for who He is and embrace our life’s deepest longing. And second, that we would extend that love that He gives us towards everyone in our lives. That the same loving invitation that is extended to us personally would both be fully embraced and then shared. If we can do this, then everything else falls into place. Our relationships, our priorities, our focus, our life’s purpose, and our life’s legacy hinge on this “great commandment.” To love God and love others is everything.
