VIP – SPECIAL NEEDS MINISTRY
VIP is our special needs ministry that supports and encourages children, siblings, families and individuals challenged by disabilities.
The main focus of our new VIP ministry is to provide an appropriate and supportive Christian setting for children and students with special needs so parents can comfortably attend worship. Kids can be placed in the traditional Grace Church POWER Kids with one-on-one assistance, as needed, or participate in a special classroom that includes a higher ratio of teachers and helpers.
Both options are available as part of VIP POWER Kids ministry and offer unique features to help parents, teachers and volunteers to work together to provide the best experience for the child:
VIP Buddy Ministry:
This ministry helps meet the spiritual needs of children with disabilities through the Grace Church POWER Kids program. VIP Buddies facilitate the inclusion of the child with special needs in the regular POWER Kids classroom. Each one, as needed, is provided a VIP Buddy who comes alongside to help him/her make friends, participate in activities and learn about Jesus.
The special needs class is a Sunday school class serving children whose needs are not met in the traditional POWER Kids Class setting. In addition to singing, crafts and story time, trained volunteers adapt Bible lessons and related activities. This is all done in a safe, nurturing atmosphere where each individual is loved and valued as a precious child of God.
Currently our VIP class meets during the Sunday 9am service in the lower portion of the Ghent Road building, in the POWER Kids area.
