When dealing with the popular name brands of the products we love such as CheeriosTM, OreosTM, Dr. PepperTM, it’s easy to recognize imitation brands. But with other things in life, it’s not as easy to recognize a counterfeit, which can often leave us settling for “good enough”. Love. Security. Significance. Happiness. These are a few of the things that people long for, but to most, remain elusive. We grapple for things like money, power, respect, influence, sex, or status, but those only contain a few ingredients of what we really desire. These are the imitation brands of life. Join in our discussion of how to truly achieve the things we want most in life instead of settling for the imitations that are so readily available.
At Grace, we live to make Jesus make sense. We are preoccupied with making any necessary sacrifice to make the story of Jesus clear and accessible to anyone seeking after Him. This is not just our calling, but that of the church at large. It is the mission of the church to share the love and story of Jesus with the world. Jesus promised that he would grow his Church, and even the gates of hell won’t be able to stop it. As we prepare to launch The Extension in an effort to continue to expand God’s kingdom, be a part of the movement as we go back to the foundational truths behind his design for the church in our new series, Unstoppable.
We can all remember a grown up or two that influenced us as a child, whether good or bad. Now that we fall into the “grown up” category, we’re in a unique position to influence the children around us. Sometimes our role and influence in a child’s life becomes more complicated when dealing with blended families, single parenting, or just the changing circumstances in our lives. But, regardless of the situation, God has placed these children in our path. Join us for our series, The Grown Up, as we learn principles God has provided to help us as we navigate these relationships.
We all have plans for our future… Earn a degree. Get in shape. Meet that special someone. Raise a family. Plan for retirement. Leave a legacy. But, what about the future that is beyond our experiences in this life? Today not only affects tomorrow, but it also affects our life after we depart from this world. In this series, discover how to prepare for the future when Jesus returns.
It’s difficult to fully understand things that are unseen. We are not only physical, but spiritual as well — so there is a part of me that is invisible. There are also realities out there such as angels, demons, heaven, hell, and God himself. We interact with these invisible things on a daily basis. They shape our lives and our decisions, but we often don’t know much about them. In this series, we will dig deeper into the Bible and learn more about the invisible side of life.
The idea of a resurrection seems a little far-fetched. For most of us, it is something that is more likely to show up in the plot lines of a sci-fi movie. However unbelievable it may appear, there are firsthand accounts of Jesus coming back to life. In this series, we will read the accounts of people who knew Jesus both before and after the resurrection. Take a look with us as we uncover how that single event changed not only their faith, but also their lives.
The iCare: Community weekend series is part of a church-wide initiative by the same name. This initiative is all about neighbors doing good together and building relationships within our communities. During the series, March 8 to April 13, weekend messages will teach us how we can join together to impact the Greater-Akron area. For more information, visit icare.graceohio.org.
The Bible is full of characteristics defining the way God interacts with us. He is generous, gracious, loving, compassionate… But, did you know the Bible also defines God as jealous? Typically, the word “jealous” has a negative connotation associated with it. However, God’s jealousy is actually another powerful characteristic used to demonstrate the passionate love He has for us. Beginning this weekend, join us for the 3-week series, Jealousy (the good kind), to learn more about the jealousy behind God’s passion to have a relationship with you.
